Instructions! – How To Make Liquid Black Soap with Shea Butter

Step #01: Cut The Bar Of Soap Into Small Pieces.

Cut the bar of black soap into small pieces using a sharp knife and grate it using a cheese grater. If you want to use the whole bar for liquidizing purposes,

then cut it into smaller manageable chunks first before cutting up further into tiny pieces that will easily fit through the holes in the cheese grater.

Step #02: Melt The Soap In A Double Boiler Or Microwave.

Fill a large, heat-resistant bowl with warm water and set it on top of a pot or stove. Heat the water until it is at a medium temperature. Place the bar of soap into the bowl and allow it to meltdown completely.

Stir slowly so as not to create air bubbles that might bring up pieces from the bottom of the mix.

When the soap has melted, you can either place the bowl in the microwave for a few short bursts or move it over to a double boiler set-up.

Step #03: Add Shea Butter To The Melted Soap And Stir Until It Is Melted.

Melt Shea butter using the same method to melt the bar of soap.  Once it is melted, add it to the melted soap and stir until it is fully combined.

Slowly add it to the melted soap and mix together until both ingredients are completely mixed.

Note:  Add shea butter slowly, as adding too much will make it incredibly difficult to get out of your bowl or blender.

Step #04: Fill a glass jar with water and add the essential oils to flavor your liquid black soap.

If you would like to add essential oils to your liquid black soap, now is the time! Add whatever oils you prefer and mix well. We suggest lavender oil, peppermint oil, or tea tree oil as they are all cleansing and healing.

Fill a large glass jar half full with spring water (or distilled), then add 5-10 drops of essential oil for scenting purposes.  Swirl the jar around to combine the oil with the water and then set it aside. Then mix the mixture with your soap solution.

Step #05: Pour The Liquid Soap Into A Blender Or Food Processor And Blend Until It Is Smooth.

Pour the melted black soap mixture into a blender or food processor.  Blend until the soap is smooth and there are no more chunks. If there are any stubborn pieces that will not break down, use a spoon to help mash them down.

If you are using a blender, pour the liquid soap into the blender and blend on medium speed for about 2 minutes, or until the soap is smooth.

Blend until it is smooth and creamy, making sure to scrape the sides periodically with a rubber spatula to make sure everything mixes fully.

Step #06: Pour Liquid Soap Back Into Jar For Storage!

Once your liquid black soap has turned into a nice, smooth consistency, you can pour it back into your glass jar for storage.

It will harden up once cooled off but should still have a creamy texture that makes it super easy to scoop out of the jar! Store in a dark area because light will cause it to become sticky.
